Light that gets out of the way
A slow sunrise, an amber night light, and a star field that dims itself to nothing.
Light at night has one problem nobody seems to fix: most of what is sold for a bedroom is brighter than a bedroom wants to be. AERÉ makes three lights built from the other end — the question is never how bright they can go, but how much light is still in the room when you are trying to sleep, and whether it knows to stop on its own.
“Even on the lowest setting, it’s too bright.” The most common complaint in this whole category, and it covers the lamp and the clock display alike. AERÉ Ember is amber and red night light at a level you can sleep beside. How many dimming steps it has, and whether the display can be taken down to fully dark, will be printed once the factory puts it in writing — not before.
“It wakes me before my alarm does, so I set my phone alarm anyway.” A ramp that starts too early is worse than an alarm you trust. AERÉ Dawn is a sunrise that comes up slowly, plus a sunset to go the other way. How far that ramp can be shortened or stretched will be printed once the factory puts it in writing.
“It wants an app, and half of it sits behind a monthly fee.” Everything on an AERÉ light is set on the light itself. Nothing here is held behind a subscription, and nothing needs a phone to work.
“The projector’s fan is louder than the room.” With star projectors the complaint is almost never the picture, it is the motor. AERÉ Dream runs a slow star field that dims to nothing on its own. Quiet is treated here as a specification, not a bonus feature — whether it runs without a fan, and the dB figure, will be printed once the factory puts it in writing.
“It’s still going in the morning.” A timer that fails is the same as no timer at all. Nothing in this range waits for you to remember it: AERÉ Dream dims to nothing on its own, and AERÉ Ember is made at a level you can leave on beside the bed.
A lamp that comes up in the morning and goes down again at night, a low amber light you can leave burning, a slow star field that clears the ceiling and then stops. Choose by what you want still happening at two in the morning: nothing at all, a little light to find the door, or something moving slowly overhead.
