Bedding is the one category where you do not find out what you bought until you have slept on it — whether the silk was silk, whether the pillow was the height you needed, whether the cool lasted past the first minute. AERÉ sells four things here, and each one comes with the dull parts written down: what it is made of, which height you are sleeping on, and what it will not do.

“I still don’t know if this is really silk.” This is the doubt underneath every silk purchase, and customers settle it themselves — they cut a corner and burn it. Silk is a fibre, satin is a weave, and “silky” is neither. AERÉ Silk is mulberry silk pillowcases, and the label says which. The fibre content and the momme will be printed once the factory puts them in writing — not before.

“The zipper went, or it came apart after a few months.” A pillowcase that fails at the seam has failed at the only job it has. How AERÉ Silk closes, and how it should be washed, will be printed once the factory puts them in writing.

“It’s like sleeping on a brick. Or it gives way the moment you lie down.” Firmness is the one thing a photograph cannot show you, and getting it wrong costs a whole pillow. AERÉ Curve is a butterfly-shaped memory foam pillow with two shoulder notches and two heights in one — you turn it over to change the height rather than buy another one. Both heights are printed on the product page, because guessing is what sends a pillow back.

“It smelled for weeks, and in the end I never used it.” The smell people complain about with memory foam is not a detail: some pillows are still unusable long after the box is gone. AERÉ Gel is deodorised and rested before it is packed. Whether AERÉ Curve goes through the same step will be printed once the factory puts it in writing — not before.

“It felt cool for five minutes, then it spent the night sliding off the bed.” Cool is a sensation on contact, not a temperature you can hold until morning, and a throw too light to stay put is one you spend the night retrieving. AERÉ Cool is a throw for the hours when the room runs warm: it feels cool when it touches you, and it does not cool the room. What it weighs, and how the layers are quilted so it stays on the bed, will be printed once the factory puts them in writing.

A silk pillowcase, a butterfly pillow with two heights in one, a gel pillow that runs cool, a throw for the warm hours. Choose by what your bed keeps getting wrong: friction, height, heat, or a room that will not cool down.

None of this is a medical device, and none of it treats anything. AERÉ Curve is a pillow for side sleepers — two heights and two shoulder notches, and no claim about what it does for your neck. It is bedding, at a level you choose, for the hour before bed.
