AERÉ Gel
Cooling gel bonded to charcoal memory foam. Cut in a wave, so the neck has a roll to rest on and the head has a hollow to settle into.
This product is not linked to a store item yet — map it with npm run map:wc.
Why the surface matters
The 3 a.m. flip has a cause.
Foam insulates. Heat from the head builds in the top few centimetres and has nowhere to go, so you turn the pillow over looking for a cooler part of it. The gel layer on Gel sits where the head actually touches and starts cool, so the surface under the head is not the warmest part of the bed.

Questions people actually ask about bedding
No gel pillow does, and any claim otherwise is marketing. Gel is a surface that starts below room temperature and takes longer than foam alone to warm up. What it changes is the first part of the night and every time you turn over onto a fresh patch.
The gel is a thin layer over memory foam, so the pillow still responds like foam. In a cold room the first minute feels firmer; body heat softens it within a few minutes.
The knit cover unzips and washes at 30°C. The gel and foam core should not be washed or tumble dried — air it flat, out of direct sun.
Curve is built around the shoulder: two notches and two built-in heights for side sleepers. Gel is built around heat and the neck: a cooling gel surface and a wave profile for back sleepers who wake up warm.
The foam is virgin material, not recycled, and it is rested after production before it is packed, so there is no new-foam smell to air out. If a box has been sealed for weeks in transit, unpack it and let the pillow stand for an hour — that is the box, not the foam.
The charcoal is compounded into the foam itself, not a sachet. It is there to help with moisture and odour inside the core; it is not a filter and we do not claim it purifies air.
